Design Studio by Raymond, part of the Raymond Building Supply family of companies, partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry County to help make the dream of home ownership a reality for a local family facing medical challenges.
More than two dozen Design Studio by Raymond team members helped raise the exterior and interior walls of the home, transforming the site from a concrete slab foundation to the framework of the home in one day. The house is located in North Fort Myers and is now home to a partially blind single mother, a grandmother and a child with autism.
“We understand that there is a need in our community to make quality, affordable housing available to our neighbors in need,” said James Martin, Design Studio by Raymond. “Everyone deserves a well-built home to safely raise their family and plan for their future. We are honored to partner with the Habitat team to help bring a family’s dream of home ownership to life.”
Habitat for Humanity is a not-for-profit organization whose goal is to eliminate substandard housing across the United States. Families who qualify for a Habitat home are required to give back to the organization through “sweat equity” by helping to build not only their own new home but also to assist with the construction of other Habitat homes in the area. In addition to a low-cost home, the families may also qualify for a low- or no-interest mortgage to make the home more affordable.
