Creighton Construction & Development has completed the development and construction of a new 7-Eleven convenience store with fuel in the Miami 21 Zoning District. The project is the first ground-up convenience store construction project completed within Miami 21, which was designed to create pedestrian-friendly urban communities.
The new 7-Eleven, a 3,000-square-foot convenience store with six fuel dispensers and 12 fueling positions under a covered canopy structure is located at 2 NW 79th Street, just east of I-95.
Even though the code was put into effect in 2010, the Creighton project is the first convenience store with fuel to be built under the zoning rules. “Meeting the requirements proved difficult for convenience store projects” said Dan Creighton, CEO of Creighton Construction & Development. “Plans were tried by others on several sites that didn’t make it through the process.”
The project required collaboration between Creighton, 7-Eleven, architect Bates Forum, civil engineers Bowman Consulting and the City of Miami. “It took longer to get the project approved with multiple iterations and site plans,” Creighton said. “There was a lot of collaboration to make the result work for everyone.”
Creighton’s team was led by development manager, Roger Posey. Great Dane Petroleum was contracted to provide construction and fuel installation services.
