Norman Love Confections announces its 2017 classes: Cooking with Love. Beginning March 29 through Nov. 8, the Hall-of-Fame chef chocolatier Norman Love and his award-winning team will share some of their techniques and lead participants through the process of creating artisan confections and exquisite desserts.
Norman Love Confections is offering an assortment of evening classes that begin at 6:30 p.m. with a wine reception and typically end around 9:30 p.m. The cost is $95 per person, per class. The Mother’s Day Layer Cake class, a specialty class, is $120 per person. Classes are limited, so early reservations are encouraged. Easter Eggs:
Create your very own Easter egg chocolate sculpture filled with delicious Swiss milk chocolate truffles. Norman Love Confections’ chocolatiers will guide you in creating and hand painting your own dark chocolate egg, which will then be beautifully packaged and ready to gift or enjoy yourself! Dates: March 29 and April 12.
Layered Cakes:
Students will learn how to cut, fill, ice, and decorate a 6” cake, along with learning to make and pipe buttercream and ganache. Choose one of two festive cake designs: a dripping ice cream cone cake or a magical unicorn cake. Dates: March 29 and Sept. 27.
Cupcakes:
Students will be shown how to create cute and playful cupcakes using various piping techniques, along with learning how to create delicious buttercream frosting from scratch. End the class by snacking on a custom cupcake featuring your favorite flavor of Norman Love Confections gelato! Dates: April 12, June 14 and Aug. 16.
Molded Candies:
Let the chocolate masters at Norman Love Confections teach you all the techniques necessary to make their famous jewel-like chocolates, including how to cast liquid chocolate, hand-color shells, and mix custom ganache to fill your candies. Dates: June 14, July 5, July 26, Sept. 6 and Oct. 18.
Truffles:
Master the 100-year-old art of truffle making, from the luscious dark chocolate hand-formed truffle to the modern Swiss chocolate shell with fillings. Bring the finished treasures home to enjoy. Dates: May 24 and Aug. 16.
Chocolate and Wine Tasting:
Prepare to enjoy a deliciously elegant night of chocolate and wine pairings hosted by Chef Norman Love. Learn the unique qualities of each of the featured chocolates, the history of chocolate making and the confection-making process, as well as the art of pairing chocolate and wine. Dates: May 24 and Sept. 6.
Cookies:
Learn how to create a delicious array of cookies, including classics like chocolate chip and peanut butter, the whimsical coconut macaroon, and a mystery cookie made to enjoy frozen with a scoop of Norman Love Confections’ signature gelato at the end of the class. Dates: May 3 and July 26.
Home Desserts:
Norman Love Confections’ pastry chefs will teach you an array of dessert options you can comfortably make in your own kitchen. From the decadent lava cake served with gelato to a dreamy layered dessert shooter and the luxurious Grand Marnier Soufflé. Dates: July 5 and Oct. 18.
Mother’s Day Layer Cake:
Learn how to cut, fill, ice, and decorate an adorable 5” x 7” designer bag-shaped cake. Students will work with fondant to put the finishing touch on a gorgeous cake that makes the perfect gift for mom. Date: May 10.
Thanksgiving Pies:
Usher in the magic of the holiday season by learning to master your favorite pies! Students will learn to make fresh dough, and then will use it to create decadent pumpkin, apple, and pecan pies. Date: Nov. 8.
