January 2025
The Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife announced several sizable grants and donations, including a major gift from Bill and Laurie Harkey, that will fund construction of a new, state-of-the-art Sea Turtle Complex to replace a facility destroyed by Hurricane Ian in 2022.
Also in the news: Another environmental nonprofit, Conservancy of Southwest Florida, announced a historic grant from the John & Carol Walter Family Foundation to transform the current Nature Center.

February 2025
Southwest Florida Proton celebrated the grand opening of practices operated by Advocate Radiation Oncology and Lee Health within its 42,000-square-foot medical facility. Advocate maintains a traditional radiation oncology practice at the Estero site, while Lee Health operates a diagnostic imaging center.
Also in the news: WINK Feeds Families’ March to a Million Meals soared past its goal, ultimately providing 1,523,524 meals through Harry Chapin Food Bank.

March 2025
Market Trends 2025, an annual real estate summit held in Fort Myers, drew a sold-out crowd of 1,300 clamoring for insights into the latest market data, research and fact-based analysis. The event helped homeowners, homebuyers and real estate professionals understand trends impacting real estate sales, prices and demand.
Also in the news: One of Southwest Florida’s top law firms rebranded as Goldstein, Buckley, Cechman, Rice, Purtz, Smith & Smith, a new name reflecting the next generation of leaders, Christopher J. Smith and Andrea Smith.

April 2025
The Bobby Nichols-Fiddlesticks Charity Foundation awarded over $1.6 million in grants to six children’s charities, bringing its cumulative fundraising total to $20 million while helping more than 100,000 abused and neglected children.
Also in the news: A pair of Naples’ finest dining establishments, Ocean Prime and Del Mar, are now delighting patrons across Alligator Alley with new restaurants in Fort Lauderdale.

May 2025
United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades met its $11.3 million annual campaign goal, the 32nd consecutive year that supporters have rallied to support United Way and its partner agencies. The 2025-26 campaign goal is $11.5 million.
Also in the news: South Seas hosted a Grand Reopening Celebration to highlight post-storm improvements, including enhanced dining options, renovated pools, water sports, beach services, fitness amenities, The Clutch Golf Course, Bayview Pier, the Shops at South Seas and more.

June 2025
Brightwater Lagoon splashed into summer with an innovative, one-of-a-kind tropical destination with six acres of clear blue water surrounded by sandy beaches and lounge chairs, inflatable floating obstacle courses for adults and children, traditional waterslide, splash pad, resort-style swim-up bar, food trucks, and paddleboard and kayak rentals.
Also in the news: The Conservancy of Southwest Florida announced a record-breaking Burmese python research and removal season, pushing it over 20 tons of Burmese pythons removed since 2013.

July 2025
Slipaway Food Truck Park & Marina debuted with large, hungry crowds checking out 10 on-site food trucks, a full-service bar, shaded seating options, 30 boat slips, a fuel dock and Ship Store, all while enjoying unobstructed views of the Caloosahatchee River.
Also in the news: Motorsports industry leader Scott Fischer Enterprises, based in Fort Myers, acquired two Harley-Davidson dealerships just miles from the company’s headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

August 2025
The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company rebranded as Florida Trust Wealth Management to reflect the company’s stability and commitment to all communities it serves. What began in a one-room office on Sanibel Island is now a thriving company with over $5 billion of assets under management.
Also in the news: An astounding 23 Priority Marketing clients were spotlighted in Gulfshore Business’ annual Best of Business issue. Priority Marketing also was honored as the Best Advertising Agency, Best Digital Marketing/Advertising Agency and Best Public Relations Firm.

September 2025
Southwest Floridians dined with a purpose throughout Sizzle Dining, a four-week event offering prix-fixe lunch and dinner menus at restaurants across Collier, Lee and Charlotte counties. The event raised a record $87,483 for Blessings in a Backpack Southwest Florida.
Also in the news: Wonder Gardens unveiled a pair of much-anticipated exhibits showcasing inhabitants: The Robert & Deborah Blain Otter Grotto and The Dorothy Guigon Vivarium.

October 2025
The Housing Authority of the City of Fort Myers’s nonprofit development arm, Southwest Florida Housing Foundation, broke ground on Legacy Point, a 373-unit modern, mixed-income community through The Greater Dunbar Initiative that sparks a large-scale revitalization aimed at providing affordable and workforce housing units.
Also in the news: Naples Airport extended its efforts to mitigate ground noise after receiving FAA approval for arriving aircraft to descend at steeper slopes while having airplanes in holding patterns fly at higher altitudes and over less populated areas.

November 2025
Harry Chapin Food Bank unveiled plans to relieve Southwest Florida’s deepening hunger crisis by building a Hunger Action Center that will expand the organization’s capacity and safeguard the community against hunger for generations to come.
Also in the news: Kingston, the newest development by Cameratta Companies broke ground on a community that will span almost 7,000 acres and feature approximately 10,000 residences and 700,000 square feet of commercial space.

December 2025
Nearly four years since the project was announced, Southwest Florida Proton will become the first medical center on Florida’s west coast to deliver proton therapy to cancer patients. The center will initially focus on patients with prostate, breast, and head and neck cancers, expanding its services into 2026.
Also in the news: This month, South Seas is opening Captiva Landing, a vibrant new waterpark designation designed to elevate family-friendly experiences and redefine island recreation.
