Charity for Change, the Collier County nonprofit behind the classroom-based Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Giver Program, announces the launch of GiverTV, an interactive video series. The series allows the program to reach students beyond its afterschool, summer school, in-school and pre-school settings that in 12 years have reached 62,000 children in Florida and several other states.
The approximately 10-minute videos are hosted on charityforchange.org and Charity for Change’s YouTube channel. Videos feature the program’s mascots, Giver and U2Can, teaching foundational skills that include character education and service learning. Episodes include real-world examples of key character traits and activities families can do together to help their community. The format includes appearances by community leaders such as Florida Senator Kathleen Passidomo, science experiments and charitable crafts, with downloadable activities available at charityforchange.org. Videos currently available include: Kindness, Perseverance and Citizenship. New videos will be added regularly.
“With distance learning and children losing connectivity through school, it’s increasingly more important that they have the tools to deal with isolation, stress and anxiety,” said Karen Conley, founder and CEO of Charity for Change. “GiverTV is the culmination of what the Giver Program and Charity for Change are all about. By giving children a strong foundation of social-emotional learning skills, we are better equipping children to be resilient and deal with the challenges of change and the unknown.”
