Celebrate Life Summer Social honors cancer survivorship, raises nearly $8,500 for Lung Cancer Research Council

An outdoor pavilion hosts a group seated at tables under a gray sky. Palms line the path, and boats are docked in the background. A sign reads "Celebrate Life" as cancer survivors and supporters from The Lung Cancer Research Council gather to honor their journey.

DSC_0023Cancer survivors, supporters, friends and families recently came together at the Celebrate Life Summer Social in Punta Gorda
to enjoy an evening honoring survivors of all types of cancer, raising nearly $8,500 for the Lung Cancer Research Council. Approximately 100 guests enjoyed live music performed by Bandana, a silent auction, 50/50 raffle and door prizes, along with dancing, hors d’oeuvres and a signature drink. Proceeds from the event benefited the Lung Cancer Research Council and its mission to raise awareness about lung cancer screenings.

“It was an honor to join with other cancer survivors and their loved ones to enjoy an evening of fun and celebration as a community,” said Thomas E. Cappiello, president of the Lung Cancer Research Council. “Each day is a gift in itself, and it was a special sight to see our community come together to share their stories and appreciate the lives we are blessed with.”

The Celebrate Life Summer Social was presented by RV Merchandising and Fawcett Memorial Hospital, and also supported by Campbell’s Enrolled Agents &
Co., Inc. and Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute. For more information on the Lung Cancer Research Council and its mission, visit www.LungCancerResearchCouncil.org.
