Builders Care announces sponsors for BBQ, Bands & Brew

Builders Care, the nonprofit charitable arm of the Lee Building Industry Association (BIA), has announced the sponsors of its eighth annual BBQ, Bands & Brew, taking place on Sunday, April 9 from 11 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. at the Lee County Alliance for the Arts, 10091 McGregor Blvd. in Fort Myers. The title sponsor of this year’s event is All Star Equipment Rentals and Sales.

The fundraiser is open to the public and will feature live music from Soapy Tuna, Rockin’ Horse, Deb & the Dynamics and Ben Allen Band, a competition to name the Best barbecue in town and activities for kids. Barbecue-themed foods between $2 and $5 will be provided by Bootleggers Waterfront BBQ, Bubba’s Roadhouse & Saloon, BurgerQue, Famous Dave’s, Jonesez BBQ, Mona Lisa Italian Restaurant, MOFO’s, Orange Tree Coffee and Slider City, and desserts by Artisan Gelato by Norman Love. Admission is $10 per person. Children ages 12 and under are free, and free parking is available.

Also part of the event is the fifth annual Poker Run that begins at 9 a.m. at Six Bends Harley-Davidson and includes a ride around Fort Myers before ending at BBQ, Bands & Brew at the Lee County Alliance for the Arts. Registration is $25 and $10 for passengers, and includes admission to the event. Best hand wins $500 and Harley-Davidson gear.

The second ever BBQ, Bands & Brew cornhole tournament will begin at noon with team registration from 11 a.m. to noon.  The competition is open to the public and participants must bring a partner to play in the double-elimination format. The entry fee is $20 per two-person team, and prizes include $400 for first place and $100 for second place.
