Better Together, a nonprofit dedicated to families and children, has been selected as a participant in the 2024 Giving Challenge on April 9-10, a fundraising event presented by the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, strengthened by The Patterson Foundation.
The 2024 Giving Challenge helps amplify the efforts of local nonprofits and charitable organizations and through the convenience of online platforms, participants can explore a wide range of causes, learn about various projects and contribute directly to initiatives that resonate with them.
The 24-hour challenge begins at noon on Tuesday, April 9 and goes until noon on Wednesday, April 10. The community can help Better Together by donating at GivingChallenge.org/Organizations/Better-Together.
Better Together helps parents who are going through a hard time to keep their kids out of foster care, find work and address the root causes of their struggle so that they can reunite as a family with the tools and support system to thrive. With the help of donors and hundreds of volunteers and church communities, Better Together builds lasting support systems that help families cope with hardships – such as job loss, substance abuse, homelessness and jail time – and ensures that children are cared for in a safe home until the family can be reunited. To date, the program has served over 9,000 children and kept 98% of families together, while helping 42,000 job seekers across 22 states find employment.
Every donation, no matter its size, has impact for Better Together programs in the greater Sarasota region:
- $25 provides one Hope Pack for a child that includes essential items
- $100 buys essentials for four children
- $250 covers the cost of the home study and background screening of a host family
- $1,200 keeps one child out of foster care
