Better Together, a nonprofit dedicated to families and children, has hired Jeff Bell as executive director of the organization’s Better Jobs program.
In this position, Bell will help lead and grow the nonprofit’s workforce outreach in Florida and across the United States. He is responsible for creating strategies to attract and support new partnerships with employers, donors, community partners and churches for an overall greater impact and reach.
“Jeff is so passionate about Better Together’s mission, and his extensive background working with churches is extremely valuable to our growing organization as we work to build lasting, impactful church and community partnerships,” said Megan Rose, CEO of Better Together. “We are so excited to have him leading our Better Jobs program as we work to change lives all across the state and the country.”
Better Together helps parents who are going through a hard time to keep their kids out of foster care, find work and address the root causes of their struggle so that they can reunite as a family with the tools and support system to thrive. To date, the program has served over 7,100 children and kept 98% of families together, while helping nearly 39,000 job seekers find employment through church-based job fairs across 22 states.
The Better Jobs program is designed to be delivered through local churches to help their community find hope through employment. Better Together trains, equips and supports churches in establishing, maintaining and growing opportunities for connection and employment in their local community.
More than just job fairs, the program connects job seekers to free one-on-one job coaching sessions to review resumes and interviewing skills as well as to resources, clothing and haircuts so that they can look and feel their best. At job fairs hosted by Better Together, two-thirds of attendees get a job interview, and 1 in 4 receive a job offer on the spot. Some 70% find work within six weeks.
Most recently, Bell served as a senior pastor at Mosaic Church in Denver, Colorado. He relocated to Central Florida and joined Better Together to lead Better Jobs and to help churches put God’s words into action. He brings more than 20 years of church leadership experience and an entrepreneurial spirit to Better Together’s work ministry. He has held leadership positions at large churches, planted a church in Oregon and launched multisite locations in Indiana and Central Florida.
