Better Together, Estero Church to host community job and resource fair Feb. 22

Better Together and Estero Church are partnering to host a community job and resource fair in Estero on Tuesday, Feb. 22.

The church-based job fair not only connects job seekers with local employers who are ready to hire, but also provides resources to facilitate stronger connections and more hires. Participating employers include Amazon, BrightStar Care, Chapman Insurance Group, DeRomo’s Gourmet Market & Restaurant, Express Employment Professionals, Health Planning Council of Southwest Florida, New Horizons of Southwest Florida and SunStream Hotels & Resorts.

Free one-on-one job coaching sessions are also available to job seekers to review resumes and interviewing skills. Volunteers with professional backgrounds will also be providing a series of workshops throughout the event, with topics including:

  • “You Just Got a New Job! Now What?” – An open, informative discussion on what an employer expects of new employees
  • “What You Do OUTSIDE of the Interview Matters!” – Pre- and post-interviewing strategies
  • “Prepare to Ace Your Interview” – Tips for interviewing
  • “Resume Review” – Hints and tips on resume building
  • “Knowing Who You Are Matters” – presentation with Dan Iverson of Giant Consulting

CareerSource and New Horizons of Southwest Florida will also be on hand to share information about available services. CareerSource provides job leads, resources, reemployment assistance guidance and educational opportunities. New Horizons helps at-risk youth reach their full potential through tutoring, mentoring and faith-building.

The community job fair is part of Better Together’s “Better Jobs” program, which has helped 34,000 applicants connect with employment opportunities across 21 states. At job fairs hosted by Better Together, two-thirds of attendees get a job interview, and nearly half receive a job offer on the spot.

“In a time when jobs are more critical than ever, the community is stepping up to create opportunities and restore hope for those in need of employment,” said Megan Rose, CEO of Better Together. “This is not your typical job fair, though. Job seekers can come as they are, no suits required. Encouraging volunteers can help with resumes. We know the challenges that many face when they are seeking employment and are ready with solutions.”

The Feb. 22 job fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Estero Church, located at 8088 Lord’s Way St. in Estero. Job seekers and employers can register at BetterTogetherUS.org/Events/Estero-JF.

ABOUT BETTER TOGETHER

To date, the program has kept 98% of children served out of foster care. The Better Jobs program was created to address the 76% of families that come to Better Together because of economic hardship tied to unemployment.
