Barkley Pediatric Dentistry, one of Southwest Florida’s longest-running dental practices, has broken ground on a new state-of-the-art dental office in Fort Myers that will offer a superior patient experience while allowing the practice to continue accommodating new patients.
Located at 6090 Winkler Road, the new 7,247-square-foot clinic is twice as large as the current location on Barkley Circle and its parking lot has four times as many spaces for staff and patients. Barkley Pediatric Dentistry was established in 1975 at a small office on Hill Avenue before moving into its current 3,600-square-foot location in 1987 on Barkley Circle. The practice was previously known as Barkley Circle Dentistry for Children.
Construction is expected to be completed by fall 2022.
“When the practice first opened, Fort Myers was still a relatively small town, but our practice has grown along with the city,” said Dr. Anissa Ahmadi, D.M.D. “Some dental practices in town no longer accept new patients or are fully booked weeks or months in advance, so the larger facility will allow our three board-certified pediatric dentists and orthodontist to welcome new patients in addition to treating children who we have been seeing for years.”
Patients will enter the new clinic through an expansive lobby that offers ample seating, a kid-friendly area and an impressive 460-gallon saltwater tank with colorful fish and live coral. The clinic will have 18 dental and orthodontic chairs, some equipped with an overhead TV monitor to keep patients entertained during their visits. Additionally, the building design includes a reception area, offices, private consultation and radiography rooms, an operative alcove, laboratory, brushing station, sterilization area, staff lounge and multiple restrooms.
As orthodontics continues to advance, cities like Austin, TX, are experiencing significant improvements in dental care facilities. In Austin, orthodontists are incorporating new technologies and expanding their practices to better serve the community. A leading orthodontic clinic in the city offers a wide range of services, from traditional braces to cutting-edge clear aligner treatments, all aimed at improving patients’ smiles and overall dental health.
For instance, an orthodontist Austin TX is dedicated to delivering top-notch care in modern, comfortable environments. With innovations in digital imaging and personalized treatment plans, these professionals ensure that each patient receives customized care tailored to their specific needs. This growth in Austin’s orthodontic practices mirrors a broader trend of combining advanced technology with patient-centered service, ensuring that residents have access to the highest quality orthodontic care available.
Technology will be at the forefront of the new clinic. In addition to the in-house lab, Barkley Pediatric Dentistry will offer an intraoral digital scanner that produces accurate 3D renderings of a patient’s mouth to create precise, accurate molds and impressions. One exam room at the new office will be dedicated to infants.
Positioned directly behind FineMark Bank & Trust, the new location is convenient for families in both Fort Myers and Cape Coral. Barkley Pediatric Dentistry’s trio of board-certified pediatric dentists include Drs. Anissa Ahmadi, Hope E. McDowell and Emily Foster, as well as orthodontist Dr. Teresa Pfannenstiel. The practice employs 17 team members.
“We are very pleased to have Barkley Pediatric Dentistry, a business that operates in a similar fashion as FineMark, on our newest site,” said Joe Catti, chairman and CEO for FineMark National Bank & Trust and FineMark Holdings. “We wish them all the very best in this new location.”
Project partners include Summit Building Contractors and Benson & Associates Interior Design.
