Jaysen Roa, president and CEO of the Avow Companies since 2015, is among 300 people nominated to Modern Healthcare’s 100 Most Influential People list. The public can vote for the final 100 online through Sept. 18. The final list will be published online and in Modern Healthcare magazine in December.
Roa has overseen the growth of Avow palliative care services, children’s grief and loss programs, foundation, and hospice. The healthcare organization, which started as Hospice of Naples, celebrates 40 years of serving the community in 2023.
Nominations for Modern Healthcare’s 100 Most Influential People list included information on meeting clinical, operational and financial goals, and overcoming challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, leaders were noted for establishing and contributing to a culture of innovation and transformation, including diversity, equity and inclusion within their organization and industry.
Roa is also noted for shaping health policy at the local and national level in collaboration with his colleagues.
As the immediate past chair of the Florida Hospice and Palliative Care Association, Roa is a leader of action in finding new ways to approach and solve the challenges facing the hospice and palliative care industry. Avow is leveraging artificial intelligence as well as other technological innovations to provide efficient and seamless care to patients.
To help address healthcare recruitment and advance clinical education opportunities in Southwest Florida, Avow is participating in the NCH Health System physician fellowship program for hospice and palliative medicine. This program is intended to support the growing need for palliative medicine, which has tripled since 2000 in the United States.
Through Roa’s innovative thinking, Avow is also one of the founding members of a strategic partnership of non-profit post-acute and home-based care organizations called Synthase, allowing patient-centered care. Synthase enables mission-driven organizations to enhance access to quality services throughout 23 counties in Florida.
Included with Roa on the list of the top 300 Most Influential in Healthcare are U.S. President Joe Biden; Xavier Becerra, Secretary of U.S. Health and Human Services; Dr. Richard Besser, president and CEO of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation; Dr. Sandy Chung, president of the American Academy of Pediatrics and Dr. Mandy Cohen, director of the CDC.
